What would you innovate/ invent?

Every innovation or invention was created to solve a problem someone faced.  We think of inventions all the time as we face problems but dismiss them as being frivolous or silly. What problem would you solve? Not sure. Complete the Invention Process  pages 23-46 in the book,

Chronicles of a Young Inventor – Sam Rolls into Detroit

FlukeTM - the wealth building game of accidental inventions is a solution to a problem America is facing. Many students do not specialize in careers that require Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics as they feel those subjects are boring, and too challenging. If those subjects were fun they would no longer be as challenging. FlukeTM - the wealth building game of accidental inventions seeks to make those subjects fun and exhilarating.

Dr. Seymour Papert
is the creator of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, now the MIT Media Lab, and LEGO Mindstorms the foundation for The FIRST Robotics competition, which serves 150,000 students. Dr. Seymour Papert performed research all over the globe in various socioeconomic levels and cultures, including the Maine Juvenile Justice system. He determined that synergistic problem solving was the best learning model as it “pushes them [students]  to master difficult concepts usually reserved for the most advanced classes in traditional schools. Synergistic Problem Solving combines technology, problem based learning and play utilizing a broader range of tools, instructional methods and assessments than traditional learning. “Students should see themselves as contributors to creating the world. To gain that vision and translate it into action, students must learn to concentrate for long periods of time, to solve problems as they arise, and to be self-motivated and self-confident, according to  Dr. Papert. Life and its problems are not uni-disciplinary. Solutions to real life problems require a mastery of multiple disciplines simultaneously. Students never get an opportunity to utilize that knowledge or understanding they have of subjects to solve problems. Inventors and innovators are problem solvers.

Everyone - man, woman and child needs invention skills to survive in today's world.  According to the Partnership for 21st Century Skills there are three distinct skills that are in demand that differ from those of the 20th century:

Critical Thinking/Problem Solving  — Exercising sound reasoning and analytical thinking; use  of knowledge, facts, and data to solve workplace problems; apply math and science concepts to problem solving.

Teamwork/Collaboration — Building collaborative relationships with colleagues and customers; be able to work with diverse teams, negotiate and manage conflicts.

Creativity/ Innovation  Demonstrating originality and inventiveness; communicating new ideas to others; integrating knowledge across different disciplines.

The most significant of those skills is innovation. Innovation is the core of our country’s economic growth and high standard of living as corporations continue to grow and capture market share.  Innovation is profitable inventions mathematical represented as

INNOVATION = INVENTION + PROFITS TM

The invention process is the dreaming process.

The fastest growing occupations are highly dependent upon these skills. Corporations desire individuals who can assist in delivering profits. Every job on the fastest growing occupations chart requires some postsecondary training and STEAM ( Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
